This is what is known what Covid-19 or Coronavirus does to the human body in cases of infections and deaths.
A deadly Coronavirus started in China in December and has spread to more than 160 countries on 6 continents, only to be declared by the WHO as a pandemic after the severity.
Today, March 19, deaths from the virus has reached the alarming figure of 8,648 cases. Most of the cases were reported mainly in China, but now the virus known as COVID-19 has infected the entire world.
The virus belongs to the family of viruses that cause respiratory diseases in humans, from the common cold as well as SARS and MERS.
It has been transmitted to humans from an as yet unidentified animal source, the virus spreads from the respiratory tract to other people through coughs and sneezes. On average it takes 5 to 6 days to show symptoms after being infected. However, some people carry the virus without showing symptoms.
There are cases that look like a common cold, which has some respiratory symptoms like sore throat, runny nose, and fever. And it can vary at different levels of pneumonia with organ failure and then death.

A study of 138 patients infected with the coronavirus in Wuhan showed that the most common symptoms were fever, fatigue and dry cough. A third of the patients reported muscle pain and shortness of breath, while 10% had atypical symptoms such as diarrhea and nausea. The age of the patients has a range between 49 and 56 years. Cases in children have been rare. All the patients developed pneumonia.
A third of the patients developed severe breathing difficulties, needing treatment in intensive hospital units. The disease was critical in older people who already had another disease such as diabetes and hypertension. Six of the 138 patients died.
Statistics from China show that people infected with the coronavirus between the ages of 30 and 50 who had had other diseases died. On average, people who died did so after 14 days.
A case in the United States of a 35-year-old man, the first in the US, had dry cough and then fever as first symptoms. On the third day of illness, he was nauseated and vomited, followed by diarrhea and stomach pain on the sixth day. On the ninth day, she had pneumonia and difficulty breathing. On day 12 his condition improved and the fever dropped, he maintained himself with a runny nose. Finally on day 14 he was asymptomatic except for a slight cough.
Reports from China indicate that people with mild illness recovered after 2 weeks and people with critical illness recovered within 3-4 weeks.
