105-year-old French woman survives coronavirus

A 105-year-old woman from a retirement home in the French Alps survived Covid-19 this fall, it became known this Tuesday by the director of the establishment, confirming information from the local newspaper Le Dauphiné.
Léa Lavy, who celebrated her 105th birthday on December 10, had a mild form of covid-19 this fall and was able to survive the death of several other infected in the same retirement home.
For her birthday, "we had a small event with her daughter-in-law, to commemorate the occasion," Stéphane Richard, director of the retirement home "Fondation du Parmelan" in Annecy, told AFP.
"They offered him a bouquet of flowers and the president of the foundation came, with some caregivers, to the living room, with the mask on and without sharing a cake," the barrier gestures are required, he added.
However, the retirement home in which she has been living for "a few months" has been badly affected by the second wave of Covid-19.
"109 of our 185 residents suffered from it (almost 60%) and we mourn 33 deaths," said Stéphane Richard.
