China's experience in containing the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19 may serve as an example for other countries now facing the pandemic.

COVID-19 is the most recently discovered coronavirus; known to cause respiratory infections like MERS and SARS.

The WHO has been monitoring cases since December 31 when pneumonia of unknown cause was reported in Wuhan, the largest city in Hubei province. The biggest conclusion they have come to is that China has shown that the course of the outbreak can be altered. Normally, an outbreak of this nature that has exponential growth would reach a higher point, and then naturally decline when all people susceptible to the virus were infected or developed the disease. This has not happened in China.

At the individual level, they indicate that people should not panic and follow procedures to reduce the spread, such as proper hand washing, covering the nose and mouth when sneezing, coughing on the forearm, and working from home if possible. People have listened many times and in many ways but it is never enough.

The Chinese government also forced the use of masks in some areas and highly recommended it for the entire population. This to avoid receiving the spread of individuals who do not know they are infected, as well as preventing the expulsion of the virus from already infected people.

In turn, each neighborhood is blocked behind barricades guarded 24 hours a day. Those who leave must pass sanitary controls and temperature taking before returning to their homes. This was achieved through neighborhood committees that safeguard compliance with the measures. Suppliers supply these neighborhoods by passing food to customers on the other side of the barriers.

China delivered one million masks to France, and 1.8 million masks to Spain and Italy, the two European countries with the most fatalities. Chinese specialists also traveled to these countries. This to help other countries to win the battle against the virus and thus protect their own country since the infected that continue to exist in China are people who return to their country from abroad and have had to be placed in strict quarantine.
